1. ACCURACY

  1. Is the course content accurate?
  2. Does the module include the appropriate educational techniques?
  3. Are the sources for any factual information clearly listed so they can be verified in another source?
  4. Are the links still valid?
  5. Is the information free of grammatical, spelling, punctuation, and other typographical errors?

 2. AUTHORITY

  1.  Is it clear who is responsible for the contents of page?
  2.  Is it clear who wrote the material and are the authors' qualifications for writing this topic?
  3.  Is there a link to a page describing the purpose of the sponsoring organization?
  4. Are references, bibliographies, or other supporting evidence provided?
  5. If the materials is protected by copyright, is the name of the copyright holder given?

3. OBJECTIVITY

  1. Is the information free of advertising?
  2. Is the information provided as a learners’ service or use?
  3. Look at who is writing the information -- is there a hidden agenda, or is the information being provided for public use?
  4. Is it propaganda?
  5. Who are the authors of the content?

4. CURRENCY

  1. Is there any indication of when the page was last updated?
  2. Is the date of the last update acceptable to you?
  3. Are there any other indications that the material is kept current?
  4. Is there a date on the page to indicate when the page was placed on the Web?
  5. If material is presented in graphic and/or charts, is it clearly stated when the data was gathered?

5. COVERAGE

  1. Does the site contain information appropriate for the intended learners with respect to their maturity and cognitive abilities?
  2. Does the module contain enough interaction?
  3. Is there an indication that the page has been completed, or is still under construction?
  4. Does this site contain complete breadth and depth of information related to the topic?
  5. Is there an obvious tie among the purpose, content, and procedures suggested?

This page was developed in fall 1999 by the students in EDTC 618 "Applications of Telecommunications in Education" at Texas A&M University under the guidance of the activity facilitators Adriana Gonzalez-Romo, Vo Huy, Kari Rhame, and Kun-Hui "Laurence" Tseng, and with the assistance of Yakut Gazi-Demirci.
