Welcome to Lingo-L!
|
|
| This list is designed to be
a place where people from around the world can learn about idioms in their
own language and in other people's languages. Frank and funny explorations
of idiomatic expressions are encouraged, as are discussions of how these
expressions compare with similar expressions in other languages. You are
also welcome to talk about yourselves, your families, your school and/or
work, and other topics of personal interest as they relate to the culture
and customs of your country. |
|
| If you are writing about an
idiomatic expression in a language besides English, please discuss the
expression in English. You are welcome to submit your idiom in your language,
of course. However, please try to give as close an English translation
of it as possible. I am sorry to have to limit the main language used on
this list to English, but this is so that we will all be using the same
language for our discussions. |
|
| To help me introduce new members
to Lingo-L, please take a moment of your time and fill out the attached
Needs Assessment Survey. This survey will help
me tailor discussions on the list to everyone's needs as well as to send
additional instructions to anyone who might need them. Once you have filled
out the survey, please return it via the REPLY button to the list owner
(EvaMarie) at emm0472@unix.tamu.edu |
|
| I hope that we can all make
a lot of new friends around the world through this list. I look forward
to having interesting discussions and good times with everyone who joins!
Thank you for joining Lingo-L! |
